It’s selling $15,000 Rolexes, too
If Walmart.com’s Cyber Monday deals on DVDs are not your style, the mega retailer’s website has an item for more discerning tastes: a diamond Cartier watch, selling for $18,000.
The item—with a listed MSRP of $45,000—is one of several seemingly gray market watches offered for sale on Walmart.com by third-party seller Jewlery [sic] Unlimited Inc.
Also up for grabs from that and other sellers is a $19,642 IWCPortuguese Classic Chronograph, an 18k $15,899 Rolex President, and a $15,086 Omega Men’s Constellation. All come with free shipping.
Wal-Mart did not respond to a request for comment by JCK. But a spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal that third-party sellers have “been able to bring on some brands that Wal-Mart hasn’t traditionally had in the past.” Wal-Mart has been aggressively pursuing third-party sellers, the newspaper said, and that strategy was helped by its August purchase of e-tailer Jet.com.
The spokesman declined to say how many sales of high-end pieces have been made.
