Firefighters in New York tackled an electrical blaze at Tiffany & Co’s new $500m flagship store, on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan.
Fourteen fire appliances and 80 firefighters were involved at the height of the blaze, according to the New York City Fire Department.
The fire broke out on Thursday morning (29 June) before the store had opened to customers in a basement utility vault. TV footage shows smoke billowing out of the front of the building.
Two people were taken to hospital and the store, re-named The Landmark in April after a three-year renovation, opened later the same day.
