The cultural program of GemGenève November 2022

VALORIZATION OF THE KNOW-HOW AND THE JEWELLERY HERITAGE
GemGenève, whose values of transmission, sharing and passion constitute its spirit, highlights traditional know-how and exceptional craftsmanship during the five days of its exhibition. Mathieu Dekeukelaire, director of the show, intends to establish a long-term relationship with cultural and museum institutions in order to promote the value of jewellery heritage in all its facets and in all possible ways.

Some highlights of this edition :

Exhibitions:
● Organised to celebrate 40 years of Igor Carl Fabergé Foundation Fabulous Carl Fabergé: more than one hundred Fabergé items on display // 4 major items including 3 imperial eggs. 2 of them will be unveiled for the first time in public and will be included in the next catalogue raisonné (to be published in winter 22/23) // 120 m2 of exhibition

● The art of micromosaics through the ages : with magnificent pieces loaned by some GemGenève exhibitors, museums and private collectors. Birds, mythological themes, famous monuments typical of the late 18th – early 19th centuries and of the Grand Tour, contemporary pieces… and Roman mosaic pieces from Aventicum!

 Quite simply an exhibition designed to present the lost art of micromosaics, linking Roman mosaics, Roman micromosaics and contemporary micromosaics

Conferences and round tables will be organised to discuss these arts

● The Gem Museum, Singapore: the museum aims to make gemmology accessible and attractive to a wider audience. With this in mind, The Gem Museum will take over the GemGenève Villa and present an exhibition consisting of precious stones and scientific awareness workshops. Demonstrations, observations, discoveries… A space where you can discover all the wonders of gems.

● HEAD: exhibition of 4 bachelor-degree projects from students at the Product, Jewellery and Accessory Design department

● ASMEBI – ETVJ – CFP Arts Genève – CPNE Pôle Arts Appliqués: students will be asked to take turns working on a piece of jewellery, using two workbenches (traditional technical production of an item of jewellery – manufacturing the mount, bezels, sawing, filing etc.) + group work (drawings, wax carvings) // ASMEBI: Association Romande des Métiers de la Bijouterie, a professional association, will oversee technical training in costume jewellery and fine jewellery

During GemGenève – November 2022: launch of the gouache competition between the three schools for May 2023 (Subject: Rien ne se perd, tout se transforme (Nothing is lost, everything is transformed), attended by all participating students. Workshop on design (1 h), presented by Elizabeth Fischer (HEAD Genève).

● CREA: managing the CREA EYES Instagram account by creating and editing digital content directly at the show (photos, videos, interviews with leading figures, etc.). The school CREA Genève – OMNES Education offers Bachelor and Master degrees in Marketing, Communication & Digital.

● 14.45 – 15.45 – Young people and the jewellery industry: training courses to meet the challenges of the sector and the demands of companies, a round table moderated by Donatella Zappieri (jewellery Business Consultant), with the participation of Emmanuelle Garcia-Gavillet (ASMEBI), Elisabeth Fischer (HEAD), Catherine de Vincenti (journalist) and Allen Adler (Adler Joaillerie)
