A jewellery business in Sudbury is set to close its doors after operating for six years.
According to a report in the Suffolk Free Press, the Stag & Doe will not be renewing the lease of its building when it expires due to a multitude of factors.
The business’ owner, Phillip Zelley, told the paper: “We were doing well, but we have other opportunities on the horizon.
“We are disappointed. We have had a great time in Sudbury – we have met some wonderful customers and made some great friends.
“It’s always a shame when shops close – no-one likes to see a store close on the high street and that’s just the decision we have unfortunately made.”
Zelley said that in the six years he had traded in Sudbury he had gained many loyal customers, and that although he had had no previous ties to the town he said that he had been made to feel a part of the community.
Once the store closes, he will stay in the jewellery trade, returning to his family business in Bishop Stortford in Hertfordshire.
The shop will hold a closing down sale at the end of the month.
