Jewellery giant Signet has expressed its delight at last weekend’s easing of restrictions around weddings, adding that it expects a boom in wedding jewellery sales to continue right the way through next year.
Signet Jewelers is a global company, in the UK heading up high street jewellers Ernest Jones and H Samuel.
Speaking exclusively to Professional Jeweller, director of marketing, Mark Aldridge, said: “We are absolutely delighted that some restrictions on weddings have been lifted, and receptions of up to 30 people are now permitted (safely following government guidelines). At Ernest Jones and H Samuel, we truly believe love should never be cancelled, so we are thrilled that more weddings can finally take place again.”
Commenting on the post-lockdown uptick in engagement ring sales, Aldridge said that this will not immediately translate into more weddings.
He said: “With the recent boom in engagement sales we are expecting to see the flow through to weddings hit next year, giving couples time to plan and book their special day. This, however, may take longer as couples could struggle to secure venues with the higher demand. We would expect 2021 to have a steady stream of weddings throughout the year.
“That said,” he continued, “we are always incredibly excited to play such a significant part in helping people make precious memories and it is wonderful that more people are now able to share their happy day with family and friends.”
