If you see a pearl that’s been carved out and filled with an array of gemstones, then you’ll know it’s the work of Hisano Shepherd, the designer of little h.
For Shepherd, pearls–particularly the baroque variety–act as her canvas and gemstones her paint, forming jewelry that resembles natural geodes.
Her latest one-of-a-kind piece utilizes pearls in several different ways. Shepherd embedded reclaimed rubies and freshwater seed pearls in a large freshwater soufflé pearl pendant, which is hung from an Akoya pearl necklace. The design also features 14-karat gold and diamonds.
The “Finestrino Collection” pendant retails for $4,860.
