Luxury British jewellery retailer Mappin & Webb has created an exclusive diamond in a bid to stand out from competitors.

In a competitive marketplace where brands and retailers are fighting against competitors slashing prices, and/or offering similar products of lower quality and lower price tags, national retailer Mappin & Webb wanted to created a high quality offering that would be completely unique to the business.

The end result? The Mappin & Webb diamond.

Cut by master artisans and endorsed by the Crown Jeweller, the Mappin & Webb diamond has seventy-five facets all perfectly placed within a cushion cut to enhance the diamond’s scintillation and brilliance, amplifying the beauty and the luminosity of the stone.

The facets allow refraction and reflection of light to create a visibly brighter diamond.

‘The cut is a worldwide exclusive to Mappin & Webb and we are proud to own our brightest diamond yet,” Craig Bolton, executive director at Mappin & Webb shares.

At the moment the diamond has been set in 17 pieces, including a variety of rings with a delicate platinum basket setting in either a single stone or three stone arrangement, and a pendant, studs and drop earrings. These diamond designs are called the MW collection.

The exclusive diamond is GIA and GEMEX certified G-H colour and SI1 clarity. All Mappin & Webb diamond stones consistently rate very high on the performance scale, a very rare grade for most commercial diamonds. Each stone comes with a clarity diagram and report unique to each piece.

Mappin & Webb is not the first store or brand to launch a tailor-made diamond. By having an exclusive offering it means consumers can not play a pricing game, but instead, if they fall in love with the piece in your store, they will only be able to buy it from you too.
