Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has laid out her roadmap for the easing of restrictions across the country.
Non-essential retail is set for a gradual reopening from 5 April that will permit click-and-collect services along with a number of specific kinds of businesses such as homeware stores and barbers.
It will not be until 26 April, however, that all stores will be allowed to fully reopen to the public.
This will put Scottish retailers a full two weeks behind those in England and Wales, who are expected to reopen on 12 April.
Indoor gyms and outdoor hospitality in Scotland will also return on 26 April with the possibility of some indoor hospitality also being permitted.
Venues like cinemas will have to wait until 17 May, which has also been earmarked as the earliest possible date for international travel for Scots.
Finally, it is hoped that all of Scotland will be placed in Sturgeon and the SNP’s ‘level one’ category at an unspecified date in early June.
In making her announcement to Holyrood, she said: “I know how difficult the last few months have been and I will never underestimate, or stop being grateful for, the sacrifices that everyone has made.
“But now, thanks to those sacrifices and the success of the vaccination programme, we are in a much brighter position.”
