The stage is set for one of the most anticipated events in the global jewellery industry as the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) prepares to unveil its twin jewellery shows in early March. The event, renowned for its ‘two shows, two venues’ format, is drawing nearly 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions, marking a significant increase in international participation.
A Global Showcase of Excellence
The 11th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show will be held from March 2 to 6 at AsiaWorld-Expo, offering an exclusive display of premium jewellery raw materials, including high-grade diamonds, colored gemstones, and rare pearls. Meanwhile, the 41st Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will take place from March 4 to 8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, spotlighting masterfully crafted jewellery pieces that merge traditional artistry with contemporary innovation.
Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of HKTDC, emphasized the event’s growing influence: “With nearly 70% of exhibitors arriving from outside Hong Kong, we are witnessing an unparalleled level of global engagement. Exhibitors from Japan, Spain, French Polynesia, the UAE, Mexico, and Lebanon have significantly expanded their presence, reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a key player in the international jewellery trade.”
Industry Growth Despite Global Challenges
Despite uncertainties in the global jewellery market, Hong Kong’s fine jewellery exports continue to rise. The sector saw a remarkable 10% year-on-year increase in exports to the United States in 2024, while exports to the European Union, the Middle East, and ASEAN experienced moderate yet steady growth.
The 2025 edition of the twin shows will feature 38 geographic and industry pavilions, with notable participation from countries such as the UK, US, Mainland China, Taiwan, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Türkiye, Israel, Brazil, and Colombia. Additionally, the Asia Jewelry Culture Design and Crafts Association makes its debut this year, alongside returning exhibitors such as the Tanzanite Foundation and the International Colored Gemstone Association.
A Platform for Innovation and Cultural Heritage
Among this year’s highlights is the launch of the Gold Jewellery Zone, a dedicated space for innovative gold jewellery designs. CHL Innovation Industries Sdn Bhd from Malaysia will be unveiling a series of affordable luxury gold jewellery pieces, including an eye-catching durian pendant, a nod to local heritage.
The Designer Jewellery Galleria will showcase the exquisite filigree inlay technique, an almost-lost craft from China’s rich intangible cultural heritage, demonstrating the blend of tradition and modern craftsmanship.
Moreover, the International Jewellery Design Excellence (IJDE) Award and the 26th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition will return, celebrating outstanding creativity in jewellery design. This year also introduces the Young Jewellery Designer Arena, offering a platform for emerging talents to showcase their artistic visions.
Tailored Experiences for Global Buyers
Recognizing the diverse backgrounds of its attendees, HKTDC has introduced measures to enhance inclusivity. Special arrangements have been made for Muslim buyers, including shuttle services to local mosques, a curated list of Muslim-friendly accommodations, and guided city tours in collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
As consumer trends evolve, men’s and unisex jewellery are gaining momentum. This year, nearly 200 exhibitors will present a wide range of men’s jewellery collections, reflecting a shift towards diversified styles in the industry.
A Hub for Industry Knowledge and Networking
Beyond exhibitions, the shows will feature over 30 seminars and networking events, covering crucial topics such as sustainable development, advanced jewellery technology, and identification techniques. These sessions will provide valuable insights and foster collaboration among industry professionals.
Under the theme ‘Symphony of Sparkles,’ this year’s HKTDC twin jewellery shows promise a harmonious blend of artistry, culture, and innovation, reaffirming Hong Kong’s status as a premier hub for global jewellery trade.
