The newly elected Chairman of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Pramod Agarwal today paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Shri Suresh Prabhu. Agarwal was accompanied by Chief Executive Director (CED) of the GJEPC, Sabyasachi Ray.
In the meeting that ensued, the Hon’ble Minister asked Chairman GJEPC to present a one-year Action Plan for the growth of the gems and jewellery export sector. He also asked for suggestions for the formation of the Gold Board, which matter was discussed in the recently held Gold Summit in New Delhi. He requested that both these matters be attended to expeditiously.
Further, Shri Prabhu mooted that an exploratory delegation of the gems and jewellery industry be sent to China; and a delegation be sent to Latin American countries with a view towards marketing of the industry’s products.
Chairman GJEPC promised to do the needful immediately.
On his part, Agarwal represented the matter of the seizure of stocks of the angadias in Mumbai. The Minister on his part assured the GJEPC representatives that he would look into the matter.
