Diamond-studded pieces, embellished with a variety of coloured gemstones, took centre stage at the JMA International Jewelry Design Competition 2016. The pieces drew inspiration from the design theme, “Unity.”

Organised by the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association (HKJMA), this year’s competition received more than 560 entries.

Hong Kong jewellers Peter Lam Jewellery Ltd and Noble Jewelry Ltd emerged as the competition’s big winners. Peter Lam brought home the championship in the Open Group I category for its ‘Bright Radiance’ pair of earrings. It also won the merit and best craftsmanship awards in the Open Group I category for its “The Mysterious Force” bangle.

Noble Jewelry’s “Original” necklace won the best market value and merit awards in the Open Group II category, while its “Strength” earrings took home the merit award in the Open Group I category.

PIN (Hong Kong) Ltd’s “Spirit – Realization” ring, meanwhile, achieved the Opening Group II championship. Chan Wai Pin, a director at PIN (Hong Kong) Ltd, said, “The winning piece shows current popular designs and colours. Tanzanite combined with opal highlights the design’s diversity.”
