The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) announced significant improvements to the online self-certification process for electronic Bank Realisation Certificates (eBRCs). Building on the success of a pilot program in November 2023, the DGFT has introduced two new functionalities: bulk upload and API integration.
Exporters can now generate multiple eBRCs at once using the bulk upload feature. This eliminates the need for manual entry for each eBRC, saving time and minimising errors. The process involves uploading a spreadsheet containing data like Inward Remittance Messages (IRMs), shipping bill details, and invoice information.
The API integration allows exporters to connect their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), accounting, or other software directly with the DGFT eBRC system. This real-time connection facilitates automatic retrieval of relevant data (IRMs/ORMs) and enables seamless request and verification of eBRCs. Secure access is ensured through controlled credential management.
To utilise the API integration, exporters need to register online, specifying the IEC code for which the API will be used. The registration requires authentication through the IEC holder’s account.
The DGFT is committed to supporting exporters throughout this transition. User manuals outlining the process, purpose code alignment, and validation rules are available on the DGFT website under the “Learn” section. Regional authorities will also conduct outreach programs to promote awareness and demonstrate the new functionalities.
