Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Ltd has been named one of Hong Kong’s industry trailblazers at the Hong Kong Awards for Industries (HKAI) 2016.
Chow Tai Fook, which won in the productivity and quality category, was among 70 companies that were honoured for helping shape the future of Hong Kong’s major industries. The awarding ceremonies, held on December 13, was officiated by Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung, the Hong Kong government announced.
A total of 234 entries were received for HKAI 2016. The winners were decided by the final judging panels chaired by Chinese University of Hong Kong Professor Joseph Sung.
Launched in 2005, the HKAI aims to recognise outstanding achievements of Hong Kong enterprises in pursuit of high technology and value-added initiatives, and to commend excellence in various business aspects.
Chow Tai Fook earlier announced that it will focus on improving the efficiency of its retail business and enhancing product offerings despite recording a drop in profits during the six months ended September 30.
Dr. Henry Cheng, chairman of Chow Tai Fook, said while the company is “cautiously optimistic” about the business, it is also confident about the long-term prospects of the Greater China jewellery market.
“With our solid fundamentals, vast industry knowledge and renowned brand name, we are fully equipped to capitalise on business opportunities and emerge stronger out of the current market conditions,” Cheng was quoted as saying.
Chow Tai Fook noted that it will focus on improving store efficiency through continual points of sale (POS) consolidation to enhance store productivity in Hong Kong and Macau, while remaining selective in POS expansion in mainland China.
