Australian-born Ray Griffiths has enchanted the jewelry world for years with his trademark crownwork styles—many executed in oversize mountings with equally impressively sized gems. But he’s decided to downsize some of those styles to reach a greater audience. Enter his new Every Day Ray collection.
Some 20 SKUs of 18k yellow gold and oxidized silver still feature impressive stones like diamonds, pearls, and sapphires, but their retail prices start at $900—much less than for many of his other, larger stunning styles.
“Ray wanted to design a collection for people to wear every day, to mix in with their existing pieces, or for women who have been wearing his jewelry for years to gift to their daughters to start their collections,” explains a spokesperson. “Every Day Ray is his interpretation of classic jewelry worn every day with a crownwork twist. It seemed like a natural extension of the line—crownwork made by hand in our studio but with a simpler collection.”
Consider his half-ball crownwork stud earring in 18k gold: At about the size of a pair of small pearls, the studs can be worn daily and are within the reach of many consumers at $960 retail.
Griffiths conducted a soft launch of styles last May and has been testing it in various markets since. Every Day Ray will officially debut at Couture 2017. Right now, pieces can be ordered for delivery within two to three weeks. Buy-in is 10 to 12 styles.
