Birmingham-based wedding ring and jewellery manufacturer Charles Green has raised its minimum wage to above the legal requirement as it looks to attract new talent and keep current employees happy.
With the current national minimum wage standing at £7.50 per hour for those aged 25 and over and the cost of living continuing to rise, the brand said it has made the decision to set its company minimum wage to £10 per hour.
Charles Green has 32 employees, eight of which have been with the company for over 25 years.
The jeweller said increasing its minimum to above the legal requirement will assist it in maintaining its diligent team and attracting new talent within the jewellery manufacturing industry.
Director Oliver Sutton added: “I believe that in 2017, in order to not just survive, people need a minimum living wage of at least £10 per hour. We have a very low staff turnover rate at Charles Green and I also wanted to reward our staff loyalty. Our customers appreciate continuity when it comes to customer service and quality of manufacture and having a strong team ensures that this high-standard of consistency is upheld”.
