Dust off your auction paddles. Two well-known auction houses in New York are taking their wares to eBay’s Live Auction platform this week, allowing the site’s 167 million users to bid alongside those who attend the auctions in person. On April 25, Sotheby’s presented hundreds of items, including vintage sapphire and diamond earrings from Van Cleef & Arpels, a delicate gold and enamel pendant watch from Tiffany & Co. (circa 1900), and engagement rings, including a distinct marquise-shape blue diamond. On April 27, Doyle New York will be presenting a silver and gold flower brooch set with tsavorite garnets, yellow sapphires and diamonds, an orchid composed of silver petals with graduated hues of round pink sapphires and a cluster of 22 cabochon rubies, and a white gold and diamond decorated stem. Then there is the pair of gold, yellow diamond and diamond lily ear clips—sold!
