A remarkable collection of Chaumet jewellery, spanning decades of French design excellence, is set to headline Bonhams’ upcoming “Paris Jewels” live auction at Cornette de Saint Cyr on 24 April. This highly anticipated sale features a curated single-owner collection, bringing together timeless pieces from the Art Deco era through to the bold aesthetics of the 1970s.
Among the highlights are a striking malachite and lapis lazuli ring, brooch, and earclips set from 1970, showcasing Chaumet’s flair for rich color combinations and sculptural form. The sale also includes a rare Art Deco ruby and diamond bracelet, estimated between £7,000 and £11,000, alongside a large hand mirror priced at £4,000 to £6,000, and a charming coral hand mirror, expected to fetch £1,000 to £3,000.
“This carefully preserved collection captures the essence of Chaumet’s evolving artistry—from intricate Art Deco geometry to the expressive forms of the ’70s,” said Marine Girardet, Bonhams’ Head of Jewellery in France. “It’s a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire pieces that embody both historic significance and design innovation.”
Complementing the Chaumet collection are showstopping creations from other prestigious maisons including Cartier, Boucheron, Buccellati, Graff, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Standout lots include a pair of Graff fancy-coloured diamond earrings and a spectacular 21.03-carat sapphire ring.
In the lead-up to the auction, Bonhams hosted an exclusive event featuring Violaine Bigot, Head of Heritage Jewellery Collections at Chaumet, who offered insights into the house’s evolution from the 1950s to the 1970s—underscoring the cultural and artistic relevance of the pieces going under the hammer.
Whether drawn by heritage, craftsmanship, or investment potential, bidders can expect a compelling selection that celebrates the artistry of high jewellery across generations.
