This is the world’s most expensive Barbie, in a strapless black evening dress and a one-carat pink diamond.

She sold for $302,500 at Christie’s New York, in October 2010, more than a decade before the Barbie movie was released last month, grossing over $1bn, and breaking the record for any film with a woman director (Greta Gerwig).

The record-breaking doll was was designed by world-famous Australian jeweler Stefano Canturi, who numbers Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey and Kylie Minogue among his clients.

The center diamond of Barbie’s necklace was graded by GIA as a 1.00-ct a cut-cornered modified square-cut fancy vivid purplish pink, natural color, I1 clarity. It was surrounded by three carats of white diamonds.

All proceeds from the sale went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the doll was recognized by Guinness World Records as the most expensive Barbie doll sold at auction.
