Tennis icon Chris Evert has launched her own range of the jewelry item she made famous – the tennis bracelet.

The American former world No. 1 tennis player famously halted a match in the 1978 U.S. Open to retrieve a diamond bracelet that fell off her wrist. And so the tennis bracelet was born.

More than three decades on Evert, now 67, has launched a range of 13 tennis bracelets with the New York jewelry designer Monica Rich Kosann.

They’re at up to $36,700 for an 18K yellow gold bracelet (total diamond carat weight: 4.91cts; FG VS1-2) with a green emerald.

The cheapest item in the range, currently sold out, is a sterling silver Fancy Cut Staggered Tennis Bracelet set with rock crystals and green tsavorite for $725.

Evert said the diamond bracelet wasn’t actually a gift from her then on-again-off-again boyfriend and tennis star Jimmy Connors, as was widely reported. She probably bought it herself, she said, but couldn’t remember for sure.
