The London-based supplier of ethical emeralds will welcome special guests and VIPs to The Hurlingham Club in London on Saturday, March 19, to raise funds for the Myne London Foundation.

Press Release: February 2022

LONDON based ethical emerald supplier, Myne London, has announced further details about its inaugural Myne London Foundation Charity Ball that will raise funds to empower lapidary communities in the Northern regions of Pakistan.

The Myne London Foundation was created in September 2021 to support women in Pakistan by giving their daughters the funds they need for school fees, uniforms and transportation. These crucial measures of support can mean the difference between a girl being educated or left behind in a country where, despite huge progress in the last decade, 12 million girls aged 5-16 are still out of school (The Malala Fund).

To celebrate the launch of the Myne London Foundation, Co-Founders and sisters Fiona Wellington and Kate Murray Gordos will host an inaugural event at The Hurlingham Club, a private members’ club in Chelsea, London, on Saturday, March 19, 2022, sponsored by Branding Science Group.

Tickets via Eventbrite

The evening will commence with a champagne reception in the venue’s glass domed Palm Court followed by a three-course dinner overlooking the terrace. The night’s entertainment will be hosted by long-time Myne London supporter and TV presenter, Jenny Powell, and will include a charity raffle and auction with notable prizes donated by the business’ supporters across the fashion, jewellery and entertainment industries. Auction items include piece of jewellery featuring Myne London emeralds by Octavia Elizabeth; a bespoke cut morganite gemstone from UK master cutter, Dr Steven Sweetman; dance lesson with Strictly Come Dancing professional, Kristina Rihanoff; Abu Dhabi Grand Prix VIP tickets, and a private dining experience at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant, Dinner, to name but a few. The evening will conclude with live music from Bristol-based artists, Holysseus Fly, James Vine and The Voice finalist, Hannah Williams.

Myne London Co-Founder, Fiona Wellington, says: “The Myne London Foundation aspires to banish the limiting factors that prevent the Myne London emerald community from achieving their educational needs. Our debut Myne London Charity Ball will raise funds to support the initiatives of our Foundation and will bring our customers, friends, peers and members of the gemstone and jewellery trades together for an evening of networking and entertainment. We hope you can join us to celebrate the amazing things we can achieve when focusing on sustainability, traceability and ethics in our supply chains.”

About Myne London

Founded in Belgravia, London, in 2018, Myne London® specialises in sourcing emeralds ethically, sustainably and responsibly from Swat Valley, Pakistan. It works with local groups in the region to enhance the positive social impact of emerald mining, with a special focus on the education, training and fair employment of women. To achieve these goals, Myne London collaborates with designer-brands to find a creative home for its emerald supply, while also creating its own luxury fine jewellery collections that encompass its values of social and economic empowerments.

The business was founded by sisters Fiona Wellington and Kate Murray Gordos who were born in Malaysia and raised in both London and Peshawar, Pakistan. They travelled extensively across Pakistan including the Khyber regions and into Afghanistan and Kabul, thus establishing a deep relationship with the area. In 2018, they sent a team of experts, including gemmologist Charles Evans BSc FGA DGA, to investigate the little-known emerald mines hidden in the beautiful Swat Valley. The exceptional quality and rarity of the emeralds they found there were world class, thus establishing a new traceable and transparent route to market.
