On November 25, 2016, two employees of ALROSA were injured at the production site of the Company’s Udachny Mining and Processing Division.
The incident took place when, during a field meeting of the Company’s Executive Committee, ALROSA’s management, led by President Andrey Zharkov, were visiting commissioned capital construction facilities of the Udachny Underground Mine at the level of -465 meters.
“When the delegation was inspecting the crushing complex, a sharp increase in the volume of watered mined rock movement caused a mud-and-rock flow,” ALROSA reported.
Expressing its deep commitment to industrial and labour safety, the Company went on to state: “All the circumstances of this incident will be thoroughly investigated by the Company’s specialised services with the assistance of officials from law enforcement authorities and Rostechnadzor (Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia).”
All necessary measures have been taken for the relief and assistance of the injured personnel, by the Company’s management.
