De Beers’ lab-grown diamond brand, Lightbox Jewellery, is now available outside of the United States for the very first time.
Up until now the brand has been limited to the US market, but on Twitter this week it announced an expansion into Canada.
While this is not far from the States, it is a significant move for the brand.
Lightbox Jewellery chief executive officer, Steve Coe, tells JCK: “Since we first announced Lightbox, we’ve had strong interest from Canadian consumers. Thirteen percent of consumers who signed up for our emails are in Canada. We see it as a significant market.”
He adds that the brand has no plans to expand into any other international markets until the new Lightbox factory opens.
“At the moment, we are capacity constrained until the new production facility comes online,” he shares.
The new Lightbox factory is scheduled to be in production in the first quarter of 2020.
At full production, it is expected to produce 500,000 carats of rough per year.
