Israel-based DFL Group, operator of B2B diamond trading website UNI.Diamonds, has appointed Mahiar Borhanjoo as its new CEO.
UNI.Diamonds, the group’s flagship online trading platform launched in October 2018, is the industry’s fastest growing B2B enterprise, with a quarterly turnover growth of 30 percent, according to the company.
Borhanjoo joins DFL from India-based polished diamond manufacturer Venus Jewel International, where he served as managing director since 2015 and oversaw the company’s digital transformation. Prior to that, he was executive director of Sales and Sightholder Services at De Beers’ Diamond Trading Company, where he a global team that achieved more than US$6 billion in annual revenues.
With a proven track record, Borhanjoo is joining a tech-centric organisation that aims to become a disruptive force in the diamond industry, noted DFL. The group is developing an international “ecosystem” for the diamond industry that will provide financing to diamond manufacturers, as well as online business know-how and logistics support, among others.
Through UNI.Diamonds, DFL said it is rapidly creating one of the largest and most comprehensive suppliers of polished diamonds to the international market.
Borhanjoo commented, “DFL and UNI.Diamonds are not only committed to a more efficient, economic and reactive diamond value chain but also one that is ethical, transparent and traceable.”
