208-carat diamond is the most recent discovery at the Lulo mine

A 208-carat diamond was found in the Lulo mine, located in the province of Lunda Norte. According to the company Lucapa Diamond Company, this is the third largest diamond to be recovered in that mine since mining operations began.

In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the company informs that the most recent discovery concerns a type IIa diamond, having been recovered in block 31.

“It was recovered in the lizeria area of mining block 31 and was classified by the Yehuda meter as Type IIa”, says the statement.

According to the company, this is the third largest diamond to be discovered in Lulo since mining operations began: “The spectacular diamond is the third largest to be recovered in Lulo since mining operations began.”

The Lucapa Diamond Company also says that this is the 39th stone weighing more than 100 carats to be discovered in that mine. “The 208-carat stone is the 39th diamond weighing more than 100 carats to be recovered from the mine”, the note reads.

Furthermore, it is also the second diamond weighing more than 100 carats to be recovered in October.

“This is the second diamond of more than 100 carats to be recovered in October, following the recovery of the 123-carat Type IIa from the lizeria area of mining block 19 at the beginning of the month”, informs the company.
