14-ct Emerald Smashes Christie's Estimate

A 14.033-carat Colombian emerald sold for more than twice its high estimate as highlight of an online sale by Christie’s Paris.

The octagonal, step cut gem, described as green of medium strong saturation with minor amount of oil in fissures, fetched S810,000 (EUR 756,000). The pre-sale estimate was $321,000 to $375,000 (EUR 300,000 to EUR 350,000).

The 269-lot Joaillerie Paris Online Sale, took place from 12 to 21 June and realized a total of $11.2m (EUR 10.5m).

A pair of Boucheron sapphire and diamond earrings (7.37 carats of sapphires, diamonds weighing 8.00-9.00 carats) smashed its $64,000 (EUR 60,000) high estimate by more than 10 times and sold for $742,000 (EUR 693,000).
